Rugby is a new sport to Holy Family having being introduced in 2022. There are currently 2 teams, 1st years take part in touch rugby blitzes against other schools in the North Midlands Region and the Junior team, made up mainly of 2nd and 3rd years, play in development blitzes. Leinster Rugby CCRO Sebastian Berti from Newbridge Rugby Club is on hand to coach the girls and help develop their skills and knowledge of the game.

Following a shake up from Leinster Rugby Women’s Development Team, girls schools rugby has been split into a Cup competition for established rugby schools and have a majority of club players, and a Development competition for schools new to rugby where a lot of players have not played the sport before. We are lucky this year to be included in the Development competition as it gives our Junior team the option of competing in full contact games or touch only.

All players are welcome to come and try rugby regardless of experience, most of our current player are new to the game having never played before and are enjoying training and their blitzes!
