Transition Year Programme
Philosophy: To promote the personal, social, educational and vocational development of the students and to prepare them for their future role as responsible members of society.
Aims: T.Y.P. aims to help students in the following ways:
- Find a sense of themselves and to aid them on their journey towards maturity.
- Helps to build confidence and self-esteem.
- Offers a catch up chance to students who may have experienced difficulties at Junior Cert Level.
- Promotes mature study skills for Leaving Cert Programme.
- Offers an opportunity to investigate future career prospects through work experience.
- Develop links with local community.
- Promotes enterprise.

Work Experience:
The students are expected to sample two different work placements during the year. The students devote one day per week to working within the local community both in public and private enterprises.
Language Development:
T.Y.P. allows students to spend part of 4th Year in the Gaeltacht of they so wish, or to engage in intensive study of a Continental Language.
T.Y.P. - develops active learning skills, aids students to make mature choices for the Leaving Cert Programme and acts as a spring-board for the L.C.V.P. Programme.
